Good, not great, cinema. Intertwined mini-plots reveal how fixed ideas and stereotypes come back to haunt... The film would have, sorry, been equally good without the attractive Brad Pitt, whose looks did nothing to add to the movie. Cate Blanchett irritates me with her neurotic ways... Thumbs down from Poodles. Thank God she didn't win an Oscar for this performance! The film makers could have saved some money doing without those two, but the rest of the actors, unknowns to me, were well cast. Go see.

This movie is still feasting on the reputation of "Silence of the Lambs" but offers little of the suspense of the original movie. Sure, it fills in the missing gaps as to how poor Hannibal got traumatized, so would you have been in his situation. But really, the subsequent murder spree is too way-out and predictable. It's filmed in attractive settings, but on the whole, it's boring (oh, if all you want to see is blood and guts, regardless of the plot, ignore the "it's boring" comment.)

"The Queen" provides a fabulous glimpse into the psyche, life and values of the royal family. Helen Mirren is brilliant, Micheal Sheen as Tony Blair is one hell of a cute guy: Poodles wishes to see more of him. This movie is a MUST-SEE. And only in English!!!

Beyoncé Knowles was gorgeous! Be simply entertained by three (ok, four) funky girls who get styled to the hilt. I loved it. The plot's not hard to figure out (hello, it's not an IQ test!). But it does question what the public wants more: talent or fascination. This was a battle about who had the most of which.

Thought that the slave trade was over? Watch this movie and think again about buying luxury items such as diamonds. Sure it's "only" a movie, and sure it's not "quite accurate" but it's accurate enough to give viewers an idea of the dirty and exceptionally cruel diamond business in Africa. And how we, in the western world, are part of this system. Leonardo DiCaprio: gorgeous, kiss kiss. Djimon Hounsou: impressive!

Joaquin Phoenix deserves an Oscar, Grammy, Golden Globe and God knows what else for this awesome performance. Words just cannot describe this film. An absolute must-see for Johnny Cash fans, and for those who aren't but believe that music can mean something after all. So thank God for great singers, and thank God for great actors who do them homage. I rarely see a film twice, but this one - ABSOLUTELY.
